How we got a $4,200 play set for only $600 and a lot of hard work!

Joe and I have been wanting to get the kids a quality playset that they could use for a long time. We looked at all our options and really wanted to get them a set like the one listed above. The only problem is that this set is $4,210, OUCH. That is a huge chunk or cash!

So instead we have been searching on Craigslist for a used set. We finaly found a set simlar to the one above. We were able to get the set for $600 and here it is!
Yes it looks just like a bunch of old wood, however over the next week this set will be transformed into a fantastic play set that our kids will enjoy for the next 10 years! Many times my husband and I are willing to put a little "sweat equity" instead of a lot of cash to get what we "want". Typically you can expect to save at least 50% off the retail price of an item by buying it used or doing the work yourself. This is the same approach we took when we built our own house (My husband was the General Contractor and Builder, and no he does not do this for a living, he is in finance)
Over the next week I will keep you all posted on any new updates. Do you have your own story of how you were able to get something you always wanted but in a frugal way. Feel free to share your story in the comment section!
